About Wattlewater Plumbing

One van and a phone the owner answered, in Maitland in 2012. A plumber still answers it, for homes and small businesses across Maitland and the Lower Hunter.

Who we are

Working out of Maitland since 2012

A white van parked on a leafy street, its side door open on racks of PVC and copper pipe, a ladder on the roof

Ring us and a plumber answers. The person who quotes your job is the person who turns up to do it, the same way it worked when there was one van.

Most of our work is in homes between Rutherford and Morpeth, and out to Cessnock and Kurri Kurri. A lot of it is older houses whose original clay pipes need blocked drains cleared and filmed. Newer homes tend to call when it's time to swap a tired electric tank in a hot water system replacement, or when the water bill jumps and they need a hidden leak found.

There are three of us now, with two vans and a ute that carries the drain camera and the jetter. Each van is stocked for the jobs we get most, so a burst flexi hose under a sink or a cistern that won't stop running is usually fixed on the first visit, without a trip back to the supplier.

How it started

The first job was a weatherboard cottage in Lorn with a jacaranda in the front yard and a sewer line full of its roots. The owner had rung three plumbers that week. One called back. We cleared it on the Saturday, put a camera down the line and showed her the cracked joint, and she's rung us for every job since.

We still work that way: if the camera finds a cracked pipe, you see the footage before you decide anything. Most of our work now comes from people who heard about us from someone like her.

How we work

A local plumber in Maitland who answers the phone

Weekdays we start at 7am and Saturday mornings are for the jobs that can't wait until Monday. A burst pipe or a gas smell gets an answer at any hour, from one of the three of us on call that week. If it can safely wait until morning, we'll tell you how to make it safe tonight and book you in first thing, rather than charge you an after-hours rate for the same job.

  1. One plumber, start to finish

The plumber who quotes the job is the one who does it. No subcontractor you've never met turning up on the day.

  2. Plain prices

A written, fixed quote before we start, free and with no obligation. If anything changes, you approve the new price before we do the extra work.

  3. Local, on purpose

We take jobs we can reach from Maitland quickly, which is how a same-day hot water swap stays realistic.

  4. You see what we see

Camera footage, thermal images and the old part we took out are yours to look at before you decide on anything. If a repair will do, we say so, even when a replacement would be the bigger job.

Licences

The licences behind every job

  • NSW contractor licenceLic. 000000C (demo)
  • CoversPlumbing, drainage and gasfitting (demo)
  • Insurance$20M public liability (demo)

Every plumbing, drainage and gas job we do is done under that licence by a licensed tradesperson. When the work needs it, you get the certificate of compliance at the end, which is what an insurer or a buyer's inspector asks to see later. Ask for our licence number before we start and check it with NSW Fair Trading; any plumber you let into your home should be happy for you to.
